The Johns Hopkins Pathology Flashcard App is a mobile application available for iOS devices such as iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. One of the key features of the app is the Deck Manager, which offers tools for creating, reviewing, and sharing flashcard decks. The Deck Manager displays all cards within the selected deck, allowing users to add new cards, edit existing ones using the Card Editor, and remove cards as needed. Decks can also be shared through the app via binary files that include all card content and images. Sharing options include email, URLs, and Apple’s AirDrop functionality.
Upon selecting “Study This Deck” in the Deck Manager, users are taken to the Study view where flashcards are presented in a carousel interface for easy navigation via swiping gestures. A “Shuffle Deck” feature is available to randomize card order during study sessions, and users can selectively remove cards from rotation.
While designed primarily for medical education within the pathology field, the app can also be utilized across various medical and non-medical educational domains. To help users kickstart their learning experience, the app includes a sample deck of flashcards focusing on pancreatic diseases.
